Grammatical Error

"Mommy, tyler is so gramati"Tyler is so grammatic!"

"I am sorry. What bumblebee?"

"Tyler is so grammatical." As she emphasizes her words.

I busted out laughing and said, "Do you mean dramatic?"

She just smiled and laughed.

Getting There

This morning Tyler was not able to participate in the breakfast experience. Therefore, he had to go to the time out corner. While over there, he fell asleep. That was just funny.

However, after bath time, he came and told me he had to put pee-pee in the potty. He walked into the bathroom and sat on the potty and put pee-pee in it. Of course, he then jumped up and was so excited. We are getting there. NyCee potty trained in two days. Literally. WOW! Boys are so different.

Mommy's Time Out in the Windy City

I am in Chicago this weekend and had forgotten the beauty of this city in the summer time. It is so lively and energetic. It rained last night which canceled my sunset cruise. But today, I was able to go down to Navy Pier.

The sailboat races began today. The sails on some of the boats were gorgeous. I was not able to capture good shots with the camera on my cell phone.

The kids are back home in Phoenix and seem to be having a great weekend. They were at the mall on the merry-go-round when these pictures were taken.

He looks like such a big boy!

I have been traveling a lot lately for work and it has been bittersweet. I love my kids with all my heart and soul. But I miss my life as a flight attendant - the freedom and flexibility. It is hard raising two kids alone.

While in sitting at Navy Pier, I began to watch the couples who were out enjoying time together and the families as well. Although I truly believe my children are healthy and well-balanced, because of my bad choice, they do not have a family unit and I do not have a spouse. I am not feeling sorry for myself. I made the choice to leave and ultimately divorce Lewis. (A decision I do not regret.) I am just vent writing I guess. I do not have a way to release my frustrations over my current position in life. But I know all too well, things change instantly. I know that I am not ready for a relationship as I am still trying to clean the financial mess from my marriage. I just wish I could see the end of this portion of my journey in sight. Thanks for reading and letting me vent.

Potty Progress

No much to tell. Little Fred has made some progress with potty training but not much. Everyday when we come home, immediately the diaper is shed and the big boy bottoms donned. Needless to write, there have been a couple of accidents. Thankfully no poopy. However, when he pee-peed in the floor the other day, he turned around and exclaimed, "Mommy, I pee-pee!" I asked where should he put pee-pee. He pointed to the potty.

A few seconds too late son. But he is getting there. Now, when he goes in the potty, he looks inside to make sure it is really in the potty and then jumps up and yells, "I put pee-pee in the potty."
I am still hopeful for the 30 day deadline of no more diapers.

Big Boy Bottoms

This weekend we starting potty training. Tyler did a good job. The first time he went to the potty he walked out, with his pants around his ankles, and exclaimed, "I put pee-pee in the potty!" To keep the momentum going, I bought him some CARS underwear. Today was the first time he wore them. He went to the potty earlier today at Lorie's house but at home he had a couple of accidents.

My goal is to be diaper free in 30 days. We can do it!!! Go Tyler!!!!

Between a bed and a hard place

Tyler got stuck between my mattress and the bed rail. He kept crying out "Help me sissy. Help me." True to form, Sissy (NyCee) reached out to try and help him.

As for me....

Well, we are all settled into the house. Tyler finally slept in his bed for the first time last night. NyCee loves her bed and it use to the height of it already.

I am teaching three (3) courses this semester and working my regular job. Ironically, I am not as tired. School requires me to think. I can mindlessly grade papers because most of it is graded by the computer system. I really enjoy teaching my entry level course. The students are eager to return to school and want to learn. My upper level courses are not the same. The students are near the end of the program and just want to graduate. In other words, they are a little lazy.

We do not have any real summer plans. Heck, we just moved. I will be traveling the next couple of weeks. Hence is why I took off the summer semester from school. I am still searching out that full time faculty position that has my name on it. The thought of working from home, making very good money, and having flexibility is so beautiful it nearly brings a tear to my eye.

Just a wee bit longer and I will be free from the chains of the 9-5 grind. All this education is paying off!

Unpacked

Well, after moving for the past two (2) weeks, we are finally settled into the house. We are all so excited to have room to spread out. Below are just a couple of pictures so you can get an idea of the layout of the house.

Family Room

Kids' play room

Kids' play room (the basketball hoop was a gift to Tyler)

Kitchen
These pictures are just the downstairs area. It is a bi-level home. God is so awesome. Just three years ago I was living in my parents' house in the cold. Now, the kids and I have a home of our own. Although it is just a rental, it is ours. No more apartment living. I have really stretched my faith these past few years and it has paid off - BIG TIME!!!

This is the best year ever!!! Next, full time faculty position!! WAOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
