True Meaning of the Word

As a kid, we called people "Buckethead" when they acted in silly manner. Well, Tyler has literally embraced that word. (But isn't he just too cute?)

"Here Tiana, There Tiana, Everywhere Tiana"

NyCee received a Tiana beach towel for her birthday. She thinks it is a blanket.

I bought her Tiana bedding and a Tiana doll. Combined those things with the beach towel, the movie, the nightgown - WOW! Tiana is everywhere!

Love Languages

If you have never read the book,The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman, I highly recommend you do so. The book is designed to help you understand how those around you communicate. The principles in the book are applicable to all relationships not just romantic.

The Love Language Test is designed to help you understand how you receive love from others. My love language is gift giving. The gift does not have to be large because for me, it's the thought associated with the gift.

Today, my friend who lives in San Antonio but is from Detroit, had a box of Better Made Potato Chips sent to me at work. Because my love language is gift giving, my love tank (after you read the book, that statement will make sense) will be full for a week. Although my friend and I are not romantically involved, he knows that small things mean so much to me. Think about it: he not only thought of me, but took the time to order the chips, have them delivered to my job to surprise me, and selected my favorite kind: Sweet BBQ. Did you notice how much thought went into that simple gift?

I encourage you to take the test as it is quick and simple. Learning the five love languages has changed my life. I understand how my children, friends, co-workers, etc receive love. It is designed for the development of others.

Birthday Number 4!

Today is NyCee's 4th birthday! She woke up this morning and walked into my room asking if she could go to her birthday party. So we had breakfast and then headed to the park.

After a couple of times re-arranging things at the park, we finally got situated. The battery on my camera died so I had to take a couple of pictures with my phone. She had about 10 kids at the party. It was a pretty day but very windy and cool. The temps only reached the low 70s.

She received so many great gifts. The party had a Tiana from Princess and the Frog theme. She received Princess and the Frog bedding, doll, beach towel and movie. She received clothes and money, a Dora book, and hair bows.

Both she had Tyler have had like 600 pounds of sugar.

Before finally falling asleep on the couch, she put the all the stickers from her cards and the hair bows she received on her bonnet and on her face.

Today was a great day!

Rule of Life #258

Rule of life #258: It is probably not a good idea to turn your back on a 23 month old at a park where sand abounds. We were at the park this evening after dinner. While helping NyCee on the monkey bars, I turned my back to Tyler. He walked up to me smiling with sand pouring out of his mouth. As we walked back to the car so that I could get a bottle of water to rinse out his mouth, I heard crunching. Yes, you guess it. He was chewing the sand.

WOW!!!!!!!

Outdoor Weekend

Saturday, we took a short trip to the park. It was a beautiful day.

It was short because NyCee had to go to the potty twice. This particular park does not have a restroom like the other parks we visit.

Sunday, we went to the ostrich festival. OMG!! That will not happen again while my children are under the age of 20! It was a mess! As NyCee would tell it: "Mommy, remember we saw the knight on the horse, the man fall on the ground with the sword, the ostriches, rode the merry-go-round, saw the camels and the sheep. Do you remember that?"

She had fun. But Tyler was bored. He wanted to get out of the stroller. When he got out of the stroller, he wanted to push it all around in the dirt. Then at one point, he actually fell down on the ground and had a tantrum. WOW!! This is how women end up on Snapped!

Overall though, I was a good day and the kids enjoyed themselves.

Talent

I wonder if there is a scholarship for future neurosurgeons who can down a cup of milk with no hands in less than 2 minutes.

Dinnertime Breakdown

Tyler decided to have a breakdown at dinner time. Both kids are aware of the dinnertime rules. If all of his/her dinner is not eaten, no after dinner treat is given. NyCee ate all her dinner and enjoyed a fruit bar. Tyler generally likes fruit snacks. However, as you can see from the bowl, he did not complete his dinner. As a result of that choice, he was not given an after dinner treat.

From the look on his face and the tear flow, one would think I just sold his favorite dog to the pound.

A Little Sassy

I attended a conference today for work at one of the resorts in Phoenix. The landscape was breathtaking. I could not do justice in my attempt to explain the beautiful day that God painted today. The sky was a perfect baby blue and provided the perfect backdrop for the mountains. White whips of clouds filled the sky line. The golf course was gorgeous.

When I drive around town, I am captivated by the awesomeness of God. Every crater in the mountain is perfectly placed, cloud formed to perfection, the soft warm breeze makes me think of God kissing me on the cheek. Today was a good day. A sassy day!
